It all starts with the songs. Songs that move. Songs that sway, swoon, soar, lift your soul, and most of all, make you want to sing them again and again.
With a sound reminiscent of Snow Patrol, Travis, Mute Math & Coldplay, Vic Kingsley masters the epic, sing-along chorus while keeping their musical integrity intact. The Group is comprised of Jon Draper who plays bass and backup vocals, Luke Moellman on drums, keys and backup vocals, Ethan Carlson on guitars, & Vic Kingsley on lead vocals, guitars, keys and harmonica
Formed in the summer of 2007, when Vic began recording what was to be known as the Seven Keys EP, the band came together due to the demand for a live show. Since then Kingsley has played at many of South Florida’s best music venues and opened for recording artists Hellogoodbye. The band went back into the studio during Winter 2007 and completed the remainder of their full-length album entitled “These Frequencies”, which is being released April 2008. Behind the board again was Producer, Engineer, & Mixer Ethan Carlson.
The next few months will be busy, as the band hosts their CD Release Party followed by a special performance at this year’s Sunfest Music Festival, alongside The Black Crowes, John Legend, Fergie & more. Then, Kingsley hits NYC with two special showcases at the Bitter End in late May, before returning to start work on their follow-up EP.
“I really enjoy writing about strong emotions, whether they're happy or sad," says Miami native singer/songwriter Vic Garcia, known musically as Vic Kingsley. "I write about a break-up, and try to disguise some of the lines with vague insight, but you'll feel the power of the sadness. I write un-obvious love songs about finding love with a strong sentiment and no clichéd lyrics."The 24-year-old musician believes his musical path in life was fated from an early age. A Beatles-fanatic uncle encouraged Kingsley as a child to join in his Beatles covers, with Kingsley belting out the best Lennon-McCartney songs."My uncle was the first to instill that love of music in me," says Kingsley, who still proclaims himself to be a huge fan and collector of The Beatles. "I was also really into Michael Jackson's music... the melody, the sound and the dancing aspect, but when I hit 13 and really fell for The Beatles, it opened up a door" for more rock music to fill his young life.
Among the songs on Vic Kingsley's upcoming 2008 full-length debut, "Missing You Tonight" offers a dreamy, acoustic guitar strum with a soulful harmonica solo over a lovelorn ballad. "Last Satellite" continues the lyrical wordplay on top of driving, modern alternative rock musical propulsion. Kingsley's emotional voice carries "Take You Home," a jangly rocker that could easily stand alongside the best of R.E.M. and Elvis Costello. "Undercover" serves itself up as the perfect example of Kingsley's vague but emotionally powerful lyrical disguises:
“The TV plays our favorite songs/but black and white the words seem wrong”.
"Undercover" in particular is one of Kingsley's most veiled songs - it is both heartbreaking and casual at the same time, but simmering under the surface with regret and sadness. "I'm into very realistic writing, but I like to cover up a lot of the emotions with words - they're still there, you just have to uncover them."
Each song on “These Frequencies” features Kingsley's unique lyrical insight, seasoned voice and a musical mix that is equal parts guitar, piano and uplifting rock & roll.
Say When spends 300 days a year in a van and performs everywhere, all the time.
They've made a dozen trips around the country and played tiny cafes, little rock clubs, big rock clubs, and Giants Stadium. They've broken a couple of ribs, pulled some muscles, had their clothes stolen, blown through dozens of tires, busted a few guitars and watched the back end of their van fall off. And they're still going, because that's just what they do.
After becoming one of the top draws in their hometown of Boston, the band set out on the road in August of 2007 to build upon their large and loyal fan base in the Northeast. Now, after hundreds of shows in more than 40 states, they can roll into El Paso, Texas and let the crowd sing the whole set. They can show up in Chicago and see people wearing every Say When T-shirt ever printed. And they can tell you with the utmost seriousmness that nobody rocks quite like Salt Lake City.
Say When's energy, enthusiasm, and never-say-die attitude have proven contagious, and interest in the band's music is growing by the day. It started with people finding the band on Myspace, going to shows and buying CDs the guys printed themselves on a home computer. Now those same people and thousands of new fans are tuning in to hear the band on KISS FM stations nationwide, on major cable television programs, at NASCAR events and in popular video games.
Say When will continue touring extensively throughout 2009 in support of "Ready For It All," a five-song EP produced by Jesse Cannon (The Cure, Say Anything, many more). Recorded under grueling conditions on a short tour break in 2008, the record showcases the band's developing sound: Ambitious, anthemic pop-rock inspired by the challenges of the road, situations of trust and betrayal, and the feeling that the band was born to do what they're doing. The hooks and energy that made their previous record, "I'm With the Band," a favorite among fans are still present and plentiful, they're just part of a more mature and developed sound and style.
"Ready For It All" is not only the name of Say When's new record, it's a summation of their philosophy and self-perspective: A year and a half on the road has brought both success and struggle. The band has run straight at both, full-speed, and is ready for whatever may come next.

What happens when you combine a culture left behind but not forgotten and a new one adopted and embraced? What does it sound like when Hip Hop roots are sprinkled with influences of R & B, Funk, and Salsa? The combination of inexhaustible enthusiasm and nonconformity is what Stephanie's music is all about. On September 18th, 1986, Stephanie was born in Caracas, Venezuela to a Cuban mother and a Venezuelan father. At the age of 2 she moved to Miami, FL, bringing her Latin roots with her and learning to mix them with the new culture she encountered and grew to love. Stephanie is a Miami-based singer/rapper/songwriter/piano player. She prides herself on composing heartfelt, sincere songs that can reach a diverse audience as a result of the fusion of musical styles. The common denominator is always Hip Hop, but the other factors vary from R & B, to Funk, and even to Salsa and Reggae. Her lyrics are sincere, the hooks are catchy, and the music is unique. You will hear synthesizers and digital sounds in one song and live drums and acoustic guitar in another. Stephanie is never absent in any step of the creative process, serving as a songwriter, producer, and engineer on all of her songs. What you will hear are the thoughts of a young woman influenced by life, love, and a combination of cultures. Catchy lyrics and melody lines are backed by beats that will keep you on your feet. The mic skills are undeniable, the singing silky smooth, and the content refreshing. This is what it sounds like when commercial meets authentic. This is the future of the Miami sound brought to you by Stephanie.
Through a combination of passionate energy and modern electronica experimentalism, PHOENIX BLOCK is a band of four unique individuals who, together, create an undeniable power with a sound that touches every listener. The story of their rise began with the collaboration of lead vocalist Andrew Jaffe and guitarist and keyboardist Steve Schoeffler. Growing up in South Jersey, these longtime friends both began developing their songwriting skills at the young age of seven. Influenced early on by the music of the Beatles, they found melodic roots from pop icons of the 1970s-- Billy Joel, Elton John, The Eagles and Peter Frampton were inspirations.
In the 1980s, Jaffe and Schoeffler were captivated by the injection of the punk sound into popular music by greats such as The Cars, The Police and U2. By their teens, they had become proficient at guitar and piano and the craft of songwriting became their true passion. For years the two played in bands, notably Stretch Vinyl and Son of You, in the clubs of New York’s Greenwich Village, as well as in the northeast college circuit. Jaffe and Schoeffler learned to play live while honing their songwriting skills on these testing grounds.
Bassist Tony Catania was born in Sicily, Italy and studied classical guitar, flute and piano at the Music Conservatory Vincenzo Bellini. He performed in many bands as a young man in Italy, more often than not gravitating towards the bass. He enjoyed America’s punk influence in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the electronic sound in Europe. Catania’s interests quickly spread from performance to composition and production. He achieved great success as a writer and producer for Scatman John’s hit record and worked with many prominent music artists including Lenny Kravitz and Lionel Ritchie. Catania met Jaffe and Schoeffler through a common friend in Naples, FL. This very meeting rekindled Catania’s interest in writing and performing. The three began to collaborate and experiment with a style that blended a pop/punk influence with European techno. They felt they were on to something great-- but knew they were missing an important component in the rhythm section.
That’s when a chance meeting with drummer Darrell Nutt occurred in a local club in Fort Myers, FL. Jaffe and Catania were out to hear some of the local musicians and were floored by an electrifying performance by Nutt. They were immediately captivated by this high energy, tactition of the drums. Nutt, who began playing at the age of four, impressively had his first professional recording session at age 14. He has performed and recorded with many respected artists ranging from AC/DC to Steely Dan. From their first practice session, the members of Phoenix Block could tell that they had an undeniable chemistry. The sound combined the melodic influences of the 1960s and 1970s with the punk influenced, rhythm driven sound of the 1980s, over a canvas of modern electronica.
Through their gripping music and words, one can truly sense the desire and passion that drives this band and fuels the energy encompassed by their groundbreaking new debut full-length album, Chemtrails. Produced and mixed by Tony Catania and Mastered by George Marino of Sterling Sound, the album was recorded at Orange Glow Studios in South Florida. The debut album hits nationwide radio in June with an official album release date of August 1, 2008.
Soul do Mato began to form in Miami, FL in early 2005, when vocalist Ravhi de Mello branched out to others to complement the musical ideas accumulating in his songbook. At the time a young guitarist who exhibited tremendous potential had been traveling the same circles as Ravhi and had impressed him. From the very first note that Rob Carroll played with Ravhi, it was as though they had been jamming for years. The two shared a natural musical chemistry of (possibly) cosmic origins. After a few months, Robbie recruited his older brother, Doug, an accomplished musician in his own right who had been playing drums for various bands in Miami for years. Dougs drumsticks had fallen on hard times as he focused on completing college, but his musical spirit was rekindled upon hearing the material his brother had been working on, and the duo became a trio. In 2007 Frankie Jurado returned to Miami, his home town, after completing his degree at FSU and joined the guys as the bands sax player. Following Frankie's addition, the band recruited long time friend and bassist, Greg Andrews, who decided to remain in Miami to complete the band. Ravhi's songs, growing with a new found energy and maturity, became the basis for frequent jam sessions. In 2007 the band made it official and christened themselves Soul do Mato, marking the beginning...
taken from its meaning, avida stands for passion.
the red red color of the voice and the black bittersweet sound of the guitar.
alt rock continuously changing around one point:
speak out loud!
avida started to play, with its current formation in sept 2005 with old songs that Marco wrote long time ago. old late 90's songs became more faster and more heavy.
the old optimistic feeling had been lost in the process the texture of ken's guitar, the drum machines, samples and diego's drumming started to bond then lately luis bass guitar joined to complete the empty frequency space .
songs of emptyness and careless attitude. sad and sweet memories started to fill the rehearsal hours.
"avida, is like a cruel joke you hear about yourself, like being naked all the time and having to live with it. and stand up straight... you cant fake something like this" .
The Cornerstone was one of the most unique experimental art venues in Miami. Near a corner of Wynwood 2013 N. Miami Ave, the open mic nights were home to the city's craziest and beautiful artistic hipsters. The culture of love and art was the soul of the parties and every "cornerstoner" who came experienced some of the best poets and musicians in a intimate setting that was at the time un-heard of and still absent in the city of Miami. The story of the band The Cornerstoners is a story of artists that came together at the time of the venues heartfelt closing in 2007 and decided to continue to keep the name alive. Important artists from the birth of the band until now have played key roles in the production of the project and have all served a purpose in finding a Hip-Hop fusion sound that is distinct and enjoyed by many......................Now that all the technical stuff is outta the way we are a young and very eager hardworking band. ATOMIC LEE brings forth elements of Rock, R&B, and a distinctive Latin pop sensibility. Appealing to fans of Maroon 5, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marc Broussard, and The Dave Matthews Band. Atomic Lee brings a fresh, sophisticated sound that is uniquely Miami.
Singer and principle songwriter Joelee Rodriguez, along with drummer Carlos De La Arena, first made waves on popular South Florida Spanish language television as part of FUGA, an insanely popular pop band playing to huge crowds and touring throughout Mexico for the better part of three years.
Back in the United States, after the disbanding of FUGA, Joelee and Carlos connected with Carlos’ former band mate in Spiritual Graffiti, a very popular band in South Florida in the early nineties, Chris Castellanos to round up the line up. ATOMIC LEE began an intensive pre-production process that would lead to their new debut album, “Radioactive Soul”.
In between the recording sessions the band took some time off to play select live shows in the Miami area such as the 2006 Magic Johnson Foundation Super Bowl Fest Concert opening up for Sister Sledge. ATOMIC LEE has also played at famous South Florida clubs, such as, Tobacco Road, Churchill’s, and Corbett’s
With 'Radioactive Soul' available at sites such as CD Baby, iTunes and the band's official MySpace page, ATOMIC LEE is poised to shine bright in Miami as well as across the Globe.
In Droves began its formation in 2000, the brainchild of founding members Wally Valencia and bassist Pablo Vivas. Guitarist Bobby Mager added his technical guitar skills in 2001, and Mike Battle ( ex-drummer from Potraits of Autumn) rounded out the cast with his frenetic drumming in 2007. Their arrangement of polyrhythmic guitars, thundering beats, and ethereal soundscapes was the perfect recipe for exciting live performances in South Florida since 2001, as well as memorable shows from Gainesville, Athens, Charlotte, and Chicago. Their 2005 self-produced debut EP, Calm the Masses, depicts a band that refreshingly does not fit into conventional labels, and challenges the listener without overwhelming them. Their new album, Everything Connects, builds upon their past experiences, and spits it out as nouveau psychedelic anthems that capture the emotions and sounds of the end of the decade.
City of Sirens West of the Atlantic Ocean peninsula state, the sound pulls us in. Years ago, the elements were forged into sweet sound seduction. The song that lures us all in, the enchanting cries that they sing. No mortal can seize to resist. This hypnotic chant can fill a void allowing desire, come to life. Be careful and what you’re looking for. There is beauty above the surface, but a beast that lies beneath . And for those who keep on searching, may the spell place you to …sleep in… -----City of Sirens Formed back in the fall 2007. Knales pursued to continue the search for a formula that could combine Melody and Edge. Knales began to work with long time friend and sound engineer/keys Bello. They worked for a series of months in the summer of 2007 at the technodrome Miami Lakes, Fl. The project contained a four song medley. After the month of October string specialist Paulino joined the project while he was also working on his personal portfolio of sonic compositions. This coalition was yet to complete without the foundation of the lower register that only Cynale was able to deliver. Currently working on their first EP at Dungeon Recording North Miami, FL. This band blends rock/alternative with an edge. This is City of Sirens…
